Anniversary in the guerilla zone

Members of the PRWC, using a recently given digital camera, took pictures of two important activites of the people and the NPA inside a guerilla zone in Camarines Sur: the 35th anniversary of the New People's Army and the luyo-luyo (collective farming) of a group of farmers. Their story follows.

The comrades laughed and kidded one another while viewing the pictures we took of them. All of the pictures we took were copied to their laptop computer.

The comrades and the masses prepared for three celebrations for March 29, 2004:

the 35th anniversary of the NPA,

the wedding of two Red fighters,

... and a tribute for Comrades Ernie and JB, who offered their lives for the people and in the name of the revolution.

Aside from this, it was also the birthday of a comrade who was visited by her favorite niece!

	The youth and comrades worked together in setting up the bamboo posts and plastic roofing...
to erect a stage amid coconut trees.

Three whole pigs were prepared for the 200 expected to arrive.

The comrades were ready as they can be, even in their posture and attire.


Using a guitar, the comrades prepared for their cultural presentations and surprises.

The barriofolk also came prepared with their own cultural presentations.

They arrived in trickles...

...until they swelled up to more than 300.

The people's and comrades' songs, poems and speeches rang in harmony.

Everyone also excitedly watched the video of a recent tactical offensive. The offensive was successful due to the extensive role the people played from preparations until the actual operation. They enthusiastically told us about their participation, from intelligence work, cooking, preparing materials up to serving as lookouts and "reserves" for the people's militia and the Red fighters who launched the TO.

The celebration done, the bamboo posts were quickly felled and the stage was dismantled in no time.

But that gathering will remain in everyone's memory for a long time: of music and struggle, of the comrades and the masses, on the day of the 35th anniversary of the New People's Army.
