Mandirigma ng Sambayanan. Mandirigma ng Sambayanan. Emmanuel Lacaba, a people's warrior himself, wrote the poem "Ang Mandirigma ng Sambayanan" describing the Red fighters ardent desire to serve the people. The flexibilities of the guerrillas were poetically recounted in the poem as well as his highest regard to the people as the true creators of history.
Lacaba was born on December 10, 1948 in Cagayan de Oro and comes from a revolutionary family. He decided to join the New People's Army during the US-Marcos dictatorship. He was martyred in Davao del Norte on March 18, 1976 after an encounter with armed elements of the Davao Del Norte Constabulary Command.
A composite squad from three guerrilla fronts of Merardo Arce Command (NPA-Southern Mindanao) rendered the poem in connection with the forthcoming 40th anniversary celebration of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
