Rebelyn Pitao, 20, was abducted, raped and brutally murdered on March 5, 2009 in Davao City by elements of Military Intelligence Group under the 10th ID AFP. She is a teacher in St. Peter College in Toril, Davao City and the beloved daughter of Leoncio Pitao, popularly known as Kumander Parago, one of the most sought-after NPA commanders in Mindanao.
The
10th Infantry Division-AFP, embarrassed by the NPA's battlefield victories at their expense and shamed by palpable and repeated proof of their corruption and incompetence, begrudged this small amount of peace that Rebelyn had found. These men decided they wanted a small measure of success against Ka Parago in any way and snuffed out his child's life as brutally as they could.
Rebelyn's
death is now added to the thousand victims of state terrorism crying for justice.
