Rodriguez ambush yields 12 firearms, three POWs including officer
January 3. Rizal -- Red fighters belonging to the Narciso Antazo Aramil Command (NAAC-New People's Army-Rizal) ambushed the 418th police mobile group of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Barangay Macabud, Rodriguez, who responded to a report that the NPA had just torched a dump truck around 12 o'clock noon.
The NPA guerrillas seized six high-powered rifles and six pistols from the policemen.
In the ambush, policeman Rexon Aquino was killed and two others were injured. The latter were promptly given medical attention by the Red fighters who also facilitated their transfer to a nearby hospital for furher treatment.
Three other policemen, headed by their team officer Inspector Rex Cuntapay, immediately surrendered to the Red fighters and were taken as prisoners of war.

Rizal -- Tinambangan ng mga Pulang mandirigma ng Narciso Antazo Aramil Command (NAAC-Bagong Hukbong Bayan-Rizal) ang yunit ng 418th police mobile group ng Philippine National Police (PNP) sa Barangay Macabud, Rodriguez na rumeresponde sa ulat na nanunog ang BHB ng isang trak ng basura bandang alas-dose ng tanghali.
Anim na matataas na kalibreng armas at anim na pistola ang nasamsam ng mga gerilya ng BHB mula sa mga pulis.
Nagresulta ang ambus sa pagkamatay ng isang pulis na si Rexon Aquino at pagkasugat ng dalawa pa na kaagad nabigyan ng medikal na atensyon ng BHB na siya ring nagpadala sa kanila sa pinakamalapit na ospital para sa ibayong pagpapagamot.
Tatlo pang pulis sa pamumuno ng kanilang upisyal na si Inspector Rex Cuntapay ang agad na sumuko sa mga Pulang mandirigma at trinatong bihag-ng-digma.
